about
As Founder of Lobo Consulting LLC, Josiah Robinson focuses on strategy and communications to tackle complex problems and drive systems change. As an attorney, researcher, and educator, Josiah leads his consulting practice with a commitment to empathy and bridge-building across ideological lines.
Ahead of his time, Josiah started writing about the power of storytelling to shape culture and ourselves before he even graduated high school. Years later, he wrote his capstone undergraduate paper on the power of clear policies to improve institutional effectiveness. As a law student, he developed a framework to conceptualize how to mitigate structural and social stigma through policy change. Throughout his educational career, he received numerous awards for his written and oral advocacy skills.
Professionally, Josiah refined his critical thinking, problem-solving, and persuasive writing skills through legal internships with a state appellate court, a juvenile and domestic relations court, and a federal public defender's office. Complementing these experiences, Josiah has worked with corporate legal, financial, and accounting firms on research and analysis projects requiring a high-degree of confidentiality and precision, including conducting policy audits and investigative interviews for a Fortune 500 company.
Josiah’s approach is infused with a global perspective. While interning with an international law school in South Korea, Josiah wrote about a range of topics, including the rights of persons with disabilities in North Korea, China’s infrastructure initiatives, and South Korean adoption law. His innovative spirit and intellectual curiosity has taken him all over the world too. Whether it was researching geopolitical conflict in Iraq, studying Spanish in Ecuador, or volunteering in India, Josiah has traveled to over 30 countries with a passion to understand people, the forces that drive them, and how language can unite us.
After law school, his personal story of resilience and embracing authenticity led him to work at the intersection of research and public policy to advance trailblazing impact litigation, human-centered narrative change, and national movement-building efforts. Josiah supported strategic planning and communication efforts in consideration of complex religious, political, and historical implications. He worked with diverse stakeholders, reviewed institutional and regulatory policies, conducted legal research, and compiled over 600 pages of social science research in support of claims.
Over the last three years, Josiah has developed strategy and championed efforts to advance more inclusive systems for LGBTQ+ people in Tulsa, Oklahoma through research and education. Partnering with community leaders across philanthropic, municipal, academic, and nonprofit ecosystems, his work has included successfully advocating for more inclusive data collection policies, developing diverse coalitions to drive change, reducing stigma through evidence-based training, and strengthening collective impact by facilitating collaboration. With a focus on navigating the intersection of religion and queer identity, Josiah has worked with dozens of local and national advocates, faith-leaders, policymakers, and researchers to craft thoughtful messaging, engage with media, and navigate cultural sensitivities.
Previously, Josiah taught public speaking at Tulsa Community College and is an incoming instructor at NYU-Tulsa, where he will teach “Across the Divide: Constructive Policymaking at the Subnational Level” with a focus on empathy and depolarization. He currently serves as vice-chair of the City of Tulsa Human Rights Commission.
Collectively, these experiences empower Josiah to help clients navigate complex challenges, craft informed and nuanced messaging, and foster collaboration through empathy with an eye toward meaningful change.
Josiah earned his Juris Doctor with Honors from Regent University School of Law. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in International Relations, receiving the Outstanding Communication Senior award from Oral Roberts University. He also holds an Associate of Arts in Psychology with Highest Honors from Tulsa Community College and a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Higher Education from the University of Michigan.
